Help Strange Issue

I don't know exactly how to explain my problem.... I use Nova Launcher on my Note 8 and I can open an app, let's say email. I can minimize an app and then turn off my display. When I turn the screen back on, it automatically opens the last app I had open. For example, open email, minimize email, turn off display or let it time out, turn display back on, email app is open.

Does everyone's do that or have a turned something on that I need to turn off.
 
I'm still an iteration behind you as far as the android OS goes but I checked my Nova Launcher Settings and the only thing that looks like it might cause that is under Apps & widget drawer, scoll down to Advanced and see if Remember positipn is on. Mine is off and I haven't shared your ecperience.
 
What do you mean "minimize" [app]?

I use nova prime as well.

What i did to try to reproduce:

Opened up outlook.
Pressed the home button.
Turned off the display.
Turned on the display.
Home screen shows.
Press outlook icon, goes to outlook.
Im oibvosly not doing the steps you are doing...
 
I did exactly what you did with Mailwise, 5 times, using the IRIS or fingerprint scanner it went back to the home screen all 5 times. Did the same with Textra, opened up to Textra all 5 times, Whatsapp as well, so it may just be certain apps.

Are you using multi/split window? Nova Launcher does not minimize apps. So it's most likely another app you're using to minimize the email app or setting (not Nova Launcher) that is causing this from what I can guess.

Edit: trying to figure out what you mean by 'minimize'. Are you leaving the app or are you using some thing that 'minimizes' it to a small icon/window on the screen? Or something else?
 
no, I meant the I'm either hitting the back key or the home button. The app is still running in the background, just not displayed on the screen so it's not closed.
 
Okay, so when you say "minimize" you're just hitting home to get to the home screen and it's still in Open Apps with the rest of the open apps... or is that the only one open?
 
I have multiple apps in the background. I'm also using Nova Prime.

  • Open Outlook
  • Hit the home button
  • Turn off screen
  • Turn on and unlock
  • Home screen opens
Also tried with Yahoo and Gmail. Nothing strange happening there either. I can't replicate the issue you are having either.
