Strange mode after tether to pc in disk mode?

Strange noise after tether to pc in disk mode? sorry for the typo
when i plug my desire into the pc and press disk mode there is a sound its like a static sound and every couple of seconds a whistle and the only way to stop it is to turn the phone off and on i was just wondering has anybody else had such a problame and if anyone has a spolution.

Tether should only work in HTC sync mode
