Help Strange txt message issue

My txt icon is showing that I have a new txt message but when I open the icon there is no new txt. The txt message appears in the notifications window and when I press on the txt in the notifications window it brings up a blank txt message box and the space key has a circle with a line through it on the top right hand corner. Not sure what
