Streaming Audio to Droid 2 Over FTP Errors

So I am 95% complete in my quest to be able to access files remotely from my android phone. First, my setup:

Droid 2 (not global)
Windows 7 64 Bit Pro
Cox Comm ISP
Netgear WNR3500L Router
Western Digital 500GB USB External Drive

And my setup:

I have the WD External drive plugged into the USB port on the back of the Netgear router
The router is very handy in that it automatically sets up a share on the external drive and gives you the link to access via FTP (and HTTP as well) - so I have the entire drive as a share on the network with user/pass enabled.
Cox ISP is not blocking port 21
ES File Explorer downloaded on Droid 2

So I add my FTP server in ES File Explorer - put in u/p and port number and I can easily "see" the USB_Storage share on my Droid 2. I can also freely browse pictures and documents such so the connection is working.

My problem is that when I go to access a .MP3 file, it goes to the ES File Media Player and it looks like it's accessing the file, then the file color (at the top) turns to red and nothing happens. This happens with every MP3 file except for ONE file - and I can't see why that ONE file streams perfectly and the other MP3's do not.

I looked this up on other threads on this but no one has their external plugged into their router - looks like everyone is trying to setup an FTP server through filezilla or something.

Anyone had any luck or run into a similar situation?
