Streaming media downloader

I have tried searching the net for the last while, but perhaps not using the correct terminology for the software I am looking for, anyone know if there is a way to download streaming media of a website?

For example, any way to download streaming video from hosting sites such as wootly, megavideo etc? I know similar software exists for downloading YouTube videos..

You cant download flash.

but isnt youtube also in flash and can be downloaded? So why wouldnt a mp4 streaming video can be downloaded?
