Streaming

I found one called Subsonic today (getting a new phone on Thursday so I'm doing some research). That's the only one I've seen, though, and it's not free. It's a trial.

Subsonic is GREAT.
They do ask for a "donation" in order for mobile streaming to work after 30days, but I believe the $ amount is variable.

I've been using it for a while now (since before I got my Droid) and it's great for streaming music over the web while at work, too...

Im i right in thinking this app works throught the internet?

indeed it does. installation is pretty easy.

they even provide a dynamic dns service so you dont have to worry about your dynamic IP address changing.

the only thing that might be a bit challenging is making sure the webserver that it creates is accessible to the outside internet, which involves opening a port on your router.

I found Orb to be really heavy on the server side. I stream my music from a relatively old laptop, and it the remote interface was really quite slow.

Not sure if that's a function of my hardware, or the system they use for their remote site, but I was not a fan of the slowness.
