Root Struggling With Committing To Root My MAXX

So, here I am thinking about rooting my MAXX long before I will get to upgrade to either the Note 2 or the S4. I told myself that after rooting my Bionic that I wouldn't root my MAXX until I got a new phone. But here is the thing, before Jelly Bean and since Jelly Bean I am getting lag on my phone. I have fought all I'm going to fight with Verizon on the issue for the moment. I literally fought for a month with them about the issue and their solution always ends with doing a Factory Data Reset. I did an FDR on ICS and after I got Jelly Bean.

I have done a total of 3 FDR's and I still get the same lag of the more I use the phone the slower it gets at times. But it is most of the time that it does it. I was up to 2 power cycles a day at one point to get it running smoothly. I don't have crap apps just sitting on my phone taking up space either. Now I know the steps, read read read and read some more. I've rooted every android phone I've owned. I won't be flashing any custom ROM's at least I don't believe I will. And the thing is now they make it so we can disable most apps put on the phone that I don't use. I just need clarity on with this phone will rooting give me any bigger real advantage over getting rid of the lag on my phone.

Don't be fooled, I'm totally happy with every single part of my phone including the battery life! My single most frustrating issue is the lag. So the best advice comes from you guys, please lay it on me and lay it on thick if you have to. Thanks again in advance.

I was having a similar laggy experience. Getting rid of Google Now helped but didn't fix things.
Rooted this morning. Froze a bunch of crap (used App Quarantine) and just switched Google Now back on. Seems much better. YMMV :)

Thanks for the help, I actually just got a replacement Maxx earlier this week and while it is much much faster and smoother than the other one it has other issues. Such as a very loud and crackling speaker when on phone calls. I still have my original phone, and rather than setting up a 3rd phone I might just go back to that one but I'm not sure just yet.
