struggling with video playback

Hi all, just after some advice with video playback, I have the Acer iconia a500 and am struggling to find anything that will play movies from my SD card or USB device. Do I have to convert the files beforehand or is there something like vlc that will work with android? I am new to android and I'm finding it all a bit of a pain as there is nothing installed on the tab to give help or advice. Thanks in advance for your time, Rod

What codec, bitrate and resolution are the videos you want to play? To play with the stock android video player, they will need to use h264 baseline codec. Other codecs may work with third party apps, but thats the best way to do it with the stock app.

Hi, I have a Huawei Ideos X5 running on Android 2.2.
All was fine till i recently sent for service and they reformatted the phone.
Now, all the videos that used to play smooth have a stuttering pauses that affect the video flow and quality. Used to be so smoothly beautiful, especially HD videos, now it starts to stutter.

And upon playing on MixZing player there was a note saying some driver/settings have been moved from the phone to SD card.

and the stuttering is seen on all players, MixZing, Mobo, and stock player.
is there a way to fix this? can i know how to correct that?

please help.
Thanks in advance .
