so after a good hiatus from the phone hacking scene, i have come back and rooted a pair of ascend IIs i got for the missus and i. my questions are this now:
i know what rooted means in the linux world and what bad it can do in the wrong hands. what exactly does rooting an android phone do? does it enable the loading of custom software, or something equally special?
second, i keep reading about CM6/7 and how people love the sh~t out of them. my question about that is, what is CM6/7 good for? is it an alternate OS, software loader, ?? still reading their website but more questions by the minute.
finally, has anyone gotten full use of the 4 gig SD card that comes free with the ascend II? windows drive manager no go, easus partition manager doesnt even see the drive. since i doubt ill be using muve music, i wanted to take advantage of all 4 gigs if possible.
