Suddenly my lgv30 won't wake up with a double tap

After years of using this phone and giving it a light double tap which would wake it up from being asleep, it stopped responding to the double tap, and I can't figure out what to do. I'm using Nova launcher, that's about all I can say. Has anybody experienced this? Thanks!

Yes, we have heard about it- but so far no solutions.

An app that may give similar effect is called WaveUp, which can be set to wake/sleep the screen by swiping your hand over the proximity sensor.

I have to use this app, as my power button is pretty useless.
