If you don't require the latest version of Android, the Freetel Samurai Kiwami, which was their flagship in 2016, is now available for under $100 since they withdrew from the US market. It's a lot of phone for a little money. I'm in the process of getting a second one of these (the first was great in every way except it had some GPS wonkiness that does not appear to be characteristic of the line).
If you don't care about GPS, and screen size is very high on your list, the Dougee Y6 Max is an excellent choice. When they say 6.5" they mean it - the screen is huge and the device is a snappy performer for its class. I bought this phone for my partner and would have kept it in a heartbeat had it had functioning GPS (and if you read the reviews you'll see that the GPS on this unit is really not up to snuff). This thing is really a small tablet with a phone function.
The Redmi 5 Plus is a bit higher than your stated price point, and this is what we ended up sticking with. It just did an OTA update to the latest MIUI, which is based directly on Android 8.0 (Oreo). An incredible phone for its price point.
