This is an exciting time for smartphones, especially this summer. So what looks good to you? Are you looking to buy?
I'm looking to buy something this summer, which is why I'm really interested in all these phones coming out.
Palm Pre- I haven't fallen for the hype of the Pre. it's nice but the app store is non-existant, it's new and probably will have bugs and I don't want to put up with that. I've never heard anything good with Sprint, another disadvantage. I'll pass on the Pre. I'd rather get an Android handset.
Android- who knows what is being released? HTC Magic is pretty, but not impressed with the internal memory. The Samsung i7500 is blah looking, but it's got 8GB and a OLED screen- which is pretty cool. The HTC Hero is the dark horse- maybe it will make a sudden apperance in June? But I hate the chin. 1.5 looks good and it sounds like the soft keyboard is good and is a big, big improvement over 1.0. T-mo is good, but if Android does take off, will the current network support the increased usage? What plans do they have to upgrade the network? I'm seriously interested in Android, the monthly fee is also a big plus too. The G1 is out, esp. with all these new phones coming out.
iPhone- I'm interested to see what the next one is like and if AT&T will lower the monthly fees. I can't say much about the new one... I'm just waiting. I worry about the battery life on this thing, esp. with the non-removable battery. Cost is a large issue with the iPhone. I like its large screen and multitouch as well. AT&T is also upgrading the network, which is nice. For me, it's an Android vs. Apple battle.
My top three contenders are the next iPhone, i7500, and Magic.
I'm just waiting right now.
