This is one of those applications which is in many ways utterly frivolous. It is, however, also free, which makes it an easy sell. Download Sunset Lullaby and try it some night when you can't fall asleep. If you're a concrete-dwelling urbanite, it may have been months since you last really saw a sunset, and while this is certainly no substitute for the real thing, it is nevertheless better than nothing.

The colors are vibrant enough that if you blur your eyes a bit, and use just an ounce of imagination, you'll be briefly whisked away to the serene pasture-lands...or to a clear plastic bubble somewhere closer to the bucolic pasture-lands than a 20 minute drive in your Suburban will get you, anyhow.

This app uses the back-lighting heavily, so be aware that when they advise you to plug in your phone, they're giving sagacious advice. No artificial sunset is worth a dead phone at 3pm the next day.

Would I pay money for this app? Yeah, maybe. Not more than a buck, but I think its clever enough to garner a few hundred of those aggregated together from me and the handful of app users willing to pay. Would I take it for free? You bet. It's not too large of a file, and who knows: maybe you and your love can snuggle up in your tiny studio apartment and pretend, just for 90 minutes, they you're somewhere else.

Go ahead, give it a shot! It may not actually reset your circadian rhythm, if you don't like it, you can get your money back!
