swapping phones between friends?

My friend just got the evo 4g (which i have) and since they screwed us on our premiere plan, i can't get the 3d.

he is going to upgrade to the 3d when it comes out (withing the 30 day limit, she got the evo 2 days ago)

if i wanted to trade my evo 4g for his 3d can we just take them to sprint and have them swap the phones?

Just do an ESN swap.

do you think they will say anything? like its within his 30 days or anything?

also what if my evo is rooted? i can unroot, but if they see its rooted i don't want them to not do the swap or flag his account as having a rooted phone?

30 days only applies to returning his phone to the store or cancelling his Sprint service.

I'm also pretty sure they don't care about root. It just voids your warranty.

after searching the sprint website it does say he can swap his phone

Are you talking about swapping as in exchanging the phone for a different one or a refund, or just changing the phone associated with your account? If it's the latter, you can do it anytime.

If the E3d isn't on the line for which it was purchased, you might not get your rebate. That's the only issue I can see.

i asked them.. that.. being on the line that was ordered for.

they only care that it was paid for... and that line stays in good standing for the contract period. otherwise they dont care if you throw the e3d away.

the reason it is that way is because they are doing instant rebates right now, if they weren't and you swapped before you got your rebate it would have been denied.
