Swapping SIM cards (Travailing to Nova Scotia)

WendellG

Greetings,

I am going to Nova Scotia for a 10 day holiday and I am hoping I can get a pre-paid SIM card.
I have a Verizon branded S7 (SM-G935V) on Straight Talk.

Can I do this?

Where do I get the SIM Card?

Will my phone self destruct in 5 seconds after switching cards?

Thank you
Wendell

I've done the same thing (except in Europe) with my Verizon branded S7 and had no problem. In my case, it was switching to a GSM SIM. If you are switching to another carrier that uses CDMA, it may not be so easy.

For me, I just got a message saying "SIM card is not from Verizon", but did not affect how the phone worked.

Assuming it works for you, you may need to update the Access Point Names in your network settings to use the one from the local provider, in order for mobile data to work.

I can't help you on where to get a local SIM.
