Switch to Verizon, have some questions - porting number, etc.

A-Pac

Newbie
I plan on switching to Verizon from AT&T once the Bionic comes out. Would I be able to keep our same numbers (2 on family plan). If possible, would I still be able to order a new phone for new customers on say like Amazon...while keeping our numbers.

Or would I strictly need to go into the store to get the phones, account, and port numbers.

Would I be able to order through Amazon, get the phones with their new numbers, and then just go into Verizon to port our old numbers instead of using the new ones?

Anyone think Ill get a better deal going in and talking to someone directly? Maybe get a bit of a discount or some free stuff thrown in (cases, etc)?

A-Pac,

I would recommend if you're wanting to port the numbers in and do the order on Amazon, place the order for 2 new lines of service. Then after you receive and activate the phones with new numbers, call customer care and set up the port requests to transfer the numbers over. Less chance of your phones not being active if there was any delay in shipping if the port completes before you receive the phones. Just would suggest double checking for any additional terms with Amazon about new service regarding any changes on your account. Amazon is an indrect retailer and there at times can be the additional one on top of the Verizon Wireless terms of service.
