Switching-off/re-booting

Hi there I'm on my first smartphone so forgive me if I'm asking a stupid question. I was just messsing about and flipping through screens and settings and noticed that the phones uptime was at 9 days. This is because at night I either tend to leave it on wifi or just put it to aeroplane mode.

But I was just wondering if there is any benefit to the phones OS or memory if it is occasionally switched off and rebooted? ( apart from saving a little battery obviously). Or is it perfectly acceptable to just keep it running if everything's ok?

depends. I don't think the OS really needs it, but some apps may. I know 'profile' will cease changing profiles at the designated time after it gets an update until I do a restart. so I am in the habit of doing one after I update any apps.

Plus, most of these newer smartphones reboot in under a minute, so why not. I turn my shiit off at night just because it reboots in about 30 secs. anyway.
