I used to have swype and I loved it but the beta kept ending and it got a bit annoying. I tried slideIt but it just wasn't the same. Then I tried smart keyboard which was ok, but i found the actual layout annoying.
So I am now using TouchPal and its great! It doesn't seem to be that well known and it is NOT a slide to type keyboard, but does a similar job to smart keyboard. It's great at predicting what you want to say and a swipe up or down gives you capitals or alternative characters respectively making typing really fast.
If you search it on the market it comes up as a Korean app, so doesn't actually say touchpal and you will need to deactivate korean language before you use it (unless you fancy talking to everyone in Korean)
