Sync Calendar Apps between two Android Devices

Ann Carr

Newbie
Hi, I have the Galaxy Tab E and the Galaxy s7 phone. Both have the Marshmallow 6.0.1.
Have downloaded "Digi Cal" Calendar on both devices and like this app very much because it gives me the Agenda feature which the Google Calendar does not.
My problem: I can't sync the calendar events between both devices. Then I read that I also have to have the Google Calendar in the background. Have downloaded Google Calendar again and" Digi Cal" and" Google Calendars" are syncing fine.
Shouldn't they also be syncing between the tablet and the phone? I have looked through all of the settings I can think of, including making sure that all of email calendars are checked.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thank you in advance for any help.

If you use the same Google calendars on both devices (or other network calendar services) then they will be synced, and you can view or edit them with Digical on any device. If you store appointments in "local calendars" on the two devices they won't (because that's what local means, on this device only).

So store your appointments in your Google calendars and view/edit them with Digical and you'll be fine.

Thank you for writing, Hadron. I'm not sure about finding "local calendars" in the settings.
I have made sure that Google Calendar is on both devices in the background. If I enter an event into DigiCal on my phone, it also shows up on Google Calendar on my phone and on Google Calendar on my tablet but not on DigiCal on my tablet.
I have looked through all of the settings on my Galaxy E Tablet over and over but can't find any solution.
If you have any suggestion again, I would sure appreciate it. Thanks again.

If I enter an event into DigiCal on my phone, it also shows up on Google Calendar on my phone and on Google Calendar on my tablet but not on DigiCal on my tablet.

Did you check the settings in the DigiCal app on your tablet so it's using the same settings as the DigiCal app on your phone?
Just to clarify something. You're not exactly sharing calendars between your phone and your tablet, what's really going on is Google Calendar, a service that's part of your online Google account, is the main calendar in your setup. Both your phone and your tablet are synchronizing off your online Google Calendar so just as an example, if you make an entry for next week using your tablet, that calendar date info gets uploaded (either over WiFi or mobile data) to your online Google Calendar, and then that same date info gets downloaded to your phone. So basically your phone and your tablet are just remotely accessing your Google Calendar. You might find it easier to manage various calendars in Google Calendar by using a bigger screen on a computer. Using a browser go to https://calendar.google.com and in the panel in the left hand side are different calendars, or click on the gear icon in the upper right to access 'Settings' for lots of options to customize your Google Calendar to your liking.

Yeah, you should have both devices subscribed to the same Google calendar account (so system Settings, accounts), then make sure that Digical on the tablet is set to show appointments from that Google calendar (in Digical settings, check it's in the list of calendars and set to display it). That really should be all that is needed.
