sync contacts from phone to gmail

is there any app out there that would allow me to sync all the phone numbers from my android to my gmail account? i always save my numbers to the phone and not to gmail and i was wondering if it is possible to move them all to

In your Gmail account page find on the left side - import contacts.
A csv from outlook or a vcard from your iPhone or Android can then be uploaded.

Alternatively, you can make a backup of your numbers to your SD, delete them and restore them from that backup; make sure that, once you restore them, you select them as Google contacts, that way, you'll have them sync'd with your account.

Just remember, whatever way you choose to do it, make sure to save the rest of your future contacts as Google ones.

thanks - would this guarantee 2-way syncing between gmail and android?

Yes, as long as you save your contact as a Google contact, it should appear both on your phone and on your mail account.

You can always try to save a single dummy entry into your phone as a Google contact and let the phone sync; it will appear in your phone and it should show up in your mail account now.

i know what syncing is - but does the phone automatically sync after each amendment? Or should we manually sync too?

I tested this just this morning, and it updated automatically after each entry I added.

The only way I could think it wouldn't autosync is if you had the automatic sync option turned off on your phone. In that case, you could always force sync the device to get contacts on both dbs.
