Help sync contacts

Could someone please explain why you cannot sync contacts from phone to google computer contacts, and when you sync after entering in computer they are repeated if already in phone. Is there an Ap that works well. The sync contacts ap on the market warns you could have problems. Thank you for any help.Bob
