Sync gmail and SMTP mail at once?

At this point I have gmail and the regular Mail built in (fetching mail from a SMTP server) syncing fine, but they do that separately.
Obviously, this means triggering the 3G connection twice, once for gmail and once for the Mail app, which in turn means wasted battery life.
Is there a solution? Is there an app that can trigger them both to sync at the same time?

I assume you mean POP3. (SMTP is for SENDING email)

Polling does use battery. If you set up your gmail app to PUSH instead of pull it will save some juice.

As far as I know there is no way to coordinate polls (and not sure if there was that it would save battery.)

i seem to be able to send fine. i onle get a few of my incoming mails though. i have pop.secureserver.net for my incoming. is there a better setting?
