Sync scheduler?

Does anyone know of a program that allows to schedule when the G1 syncs or turn it off?

For example, when I'm at work infront of my computer, I really don't need my phone to check for email and updated calendar entries.

I know you can obviously turn the sync off but it seems a pain turning off and on all the time.

I've found that battery life is greatly improved when sync is off so a program that would do this would make my battery very happy.

I would be happy with an icon that I could press to manually sync when I want to. The current battery situation with this phone makes it problematic to leave sync turned on all the time, but if you don't sync when you add a contact, you can lose the contact. Same with g-Calender. For a supposed smart-phone, this thing handles contacts very poorly.
