Sync times for email

Samsung galaxy s3.does anyone know what all the sync times are all about ?

Yes, they tell you how often your phone will check for email. The options are usually time intervals (30 min, etc.), push (your phone is almost constantly checking for new email) and some kind of a smart sync (the phone will monitor your usage and figure out how often to sync accordingly).
