Synchronize calendar with rainlendar

myname

Newbie
Is there any possible way to synchronize between rainlendar (calendar program which I use) and the calendar on my htc desire without using google calendar as stopover?

thanks so far!

Welcome to the forum! :D

In spite of your simplistic name, I hope this won't be a one-time visit for you. Especially considering the answer I'm about to give you... :o

I haven't heard of Rainlendar before, but it sure looks nice!

The thing is, though, that Android is really, really intended to work with a Google account; so much so that you can't really do anything useful without one. :( That's a shame, but that's apparently the crummy state of the art on today's pda scene.

So no, it appears you will have to go through Google.

On the upside, Rainlendar (being iCal compliant) does claim to be able to make use of a Google calendar, although they're a little vague on exactly how to synchronise with a Google calendar. I did find a link named Top tip: Sync Rainlendar, Google & Android Phone, but it doesn't say very much either. But hey, it's better than no answer.

For more help, I suggest you ask the Rainlendar community.

Good luck! :)

Hey,
thanks for your answer :) No, it won't be neither one time visit, nor a one-time post :-) My htc desire is coming tomorrow and than I will love to search the board for useful things on my new phone :)
So I will try it out tomorrow :) But google calendars are private, right? Is there additionally any possibility to encrypt the data online?

Yes, Google calendars are private unless you give others access.

I'm pretty sure they're not encrypted (beyond being accessed via ssl in the browser, not sure on Android), and no additional means of doing so. :(

Is there any possibility to hide events which have certain categories from being displayed in the calendar?
thanks so far!
