I have been looking at getting an iphone and ipad as i saw an article that said once you have linked them then anything I entered on my PC, phone or tablet would be automatically updated wirelessly by using apples icloud

Today I spoke to someone in a phone shop about this and they said you can do exactly the same thing with google and any make of tablet

can any1 tell me if this is correct. If it is, can you tell me if the syncing is automatic as with icloud?

I am so confused now, need a little help, so I am picking all of your brains,

please help

many thanks

lynn

You can sync stuff with your google account.
Docs, reader, contacts, gmail, calendar and picasa web albums.
It's automatic if you set it auto, but you can sync manually.

thanks for the reply,

can you also somehow link microsoft outlook to google and can you upload or get the pc to syn changes automatically for files (word, excel etc)?

as you can tell, i have not a clue lol

You can forward mails from outlook to a gmail account.
Android also supports IMAP/POP3.
About docs, you can upload your stuff manually, and/or can sync with your PC via third-party applications.

I use sugarsync. I basically selected which folders on my PC I want syncing, then installed SS on both PC and phone. Any changes I do on the files inside those folders in my PC or on my phone, reflects on all synced devices. Sheesh. I've been doing this even before there was an iOS5. Lol.
