Syncing

ok, I want to have control over when this thing syncs. The guy at the store put Advanced Task Killer on it. That doesn't do anything worth talking about.

I am just getting tired of this thing just helping itself to tranferring data....TOTALLY ON IT'S OWN! I'm almost out and it's only been a week.

Of course I am connected to a WiFi most of the time but I'm still getting docked for data, even when I'm connected. Anybody know what's going on here?

Welcome to Android Forums.

The guy at the store is an idiot. Uninstall the task killer and never look back.

You can approach sync'ing two ways. You can simply turn all mobile data off and enable it only when you need it. You can get a toggle widget to do that or you can go to menu>settings>wireless & networks>mobile networks and un-check the box that enables mobile data. WiFi will still work just fine.

Or, you can limit or disable sync'ing for each app and widget that uses it. That might be harder to do because there are always apps that look for data that you didn't realize. If you want to see what's using what, you can get an app like Network TrafficStats Lite - Android app on AppBrain to monitor your mobile and Wifi data usage.
