Help "system ui has stopped" error (s3 mini)

Few days ago I noticed issue with my s3 mini, where holding down the middle button, that's supposed to open the task manager or whatever when held, gives me a message that says "system ui has stopped". After pressing 'ok', the wall paper and top bar disappear for a moment and then come back. I haven't installed any new software or made any significant changes to anything, so I don't think that it's caused by anything I have done. Anyone know what could cause this and how to fix it?

Go to settings >storage>cached data>clear cached data .

Go to settings>storage>apps/ appication manager> all>Google> force stop clear data uninstall updates and update from Google play store.

Restart device.

This clear all shortcuts and widgets in home screen.
Default launcher will be engaged.
