System update

I own smart phone Acer Z130 with Android 4.2.2.

I have recently received a prompt to download and install system update.

For now, everything is working more or less ok. My questions are:

1) What the system update will update? The ROM? The kernel?
2) What and how I can backup the things that are going to change, so that I could roll-back?

1) maybe and maybe. it depends on what the update is, it could just be a 6mb security patch, it could be a whole new operating system, or anything in between.

2) you can copy/paste some of your apps, but unless you're rooted, you're going to lose your data if you roll back, if you can roll back at all. sometimes you can, sometimes you can't - depends on what the update does. if you're rooted, you're able to make a nandriod backup and that's an exact snapshot of your phone.

Well, I'm not rooted yet.

I don't care that much about apps, I can reinstall them. I care about the 'system'. BTW: What system means? Is it Kernel?
Anyway, I would like to backup everything that this update could possibly change other than the apps/photos/videos. (Photos and video I already got sync'd).

the only thing you can back up is the apps themselves, not the data. you're playing candy crush, you're at level 45. you back up your phone, you're going to get candy crush back, but you'll be at level 1.

you cannot back up the system without being rooted.

And when you make the backup . PLEASE BE SURE TO MOVE THAT BACKUP TO THE EXTERNAL STORAGE . please move to the external storage . Cause if on the internal once you reset the device or it wipes data this will erase everything on the phone so that means the INTERNAL STORAGE WILL BE CLEANED . So if you made the backup on the EXTERNAL STORAGE you will be cool and nothing to worrie about .:D:p:rolleyes::screwy::thumbup:
