T mobile exclusive?

I am very interested in promoting Android in our organization. I have some concerns however about the lack of choice in networks. It never works out if the I.T. Weenie makes the choice for all :D. In any event, I thought Android was supposed to be a network agnostic device. In fact I thought it was to be a device agnostic OS that could be used by any manufacturer and on any network. Have I been dreaming or is that part of 'The Plan' and if so, is there any place I might look to find anticipated roll outs? Products or carriers.
Thanks
Rick

Welcome.

It is agnostic to hardware and networks. Is an operating system. Much like Windows Mobile or Blackberry OS, vs say Apple (one (basic) device and network in the USA) currently.

As for the rollout...I am in the USA. There is no official announced rollout plan other than Tmobile which is getting their second device shortly. Aug and some people have them already.

Future devices and networks are still not totally public...but hopefully soon. Verizon and Sprint seem like very possible networks. Devices are a bit more of a mystery at this point. My guess is by year's end we will see quite a bit more action.

Across the pond they already have a few devices by other manufacturers on various networks.

Some progress in other parts of the world though. The Samsung Galaxy has been released on the O2 network in Germany. Just read yesterday that the Galaxy has been approved by the FCC which I believe is the first step to seeing it in America.

Ok, good to hear all that...I will now begin the low level campaign at work :- ) The I-phone app store is not a place you want to be... as a developer or a customer.
Thanks
