I saw a couple of threads on it but couldn't see an answer, so windows wont let it format me saying its read only. Phone wont recognize it.

Simple question how do i format this card. I had to reset my phone to get the work email and the admins off my phone. i do remember the password but the phone isn't recognizing the card at all.

Try something like "SDFormatter":

https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/

It has been able to format cards for me that Windows couldn't...

You might also want to reformat the card using SDFormatter & then put it in the phone while still blank & let the phone format it again just to make sure it works.

You can also try using Linux. Linux usually doesn't give a $#!^ what it is. Download an ubuntu iso and burn it. It'll run in full right off the CD or DVD (depending on what version you DL) It's a disk that's also handy to have around to PC data recovery when one crashes and wont boot to windows.... ;-)

I downloaded the desktop edition, used my external USB drive and created a bootable Ubuntu on it. Maybe i am not familiar enough when i inserted the card i saw an error in the logs stating that there was issue mounting the card..

Anyways i called up Sandisk Support they have kindly agreed to replace the card for me. But I am still a bit uneasy on what made the card suddenly die on me..

Thanks again !

Ok this is kinda off topic but I encrypted my sd card on my phone its a moto from cricket just a cheap phone and Ive reset it multiple times its not the best phone but its good enough for me and ive never encrypted it and of course the one time I do my phone crashes I had to take it up to cricket because my 128gb sd card wasn't working on anything and they couldn't fix it without some out of this world fee so I kept it in my drawer and I came across this and was like ok maybe this would work and I loaded it up and tried this sd card formatter I didn't think it would work but it was worth trying intead of buying another $70 sd card at bottom dollar and it worked it didn't work on quick format but the overwrite format it did thank you all I don't think I would have fixed it on my own.
