T-Mobile G1 Email App Problems.

Ok so I need an email app that WORKS preferably for my G1 phone. NEED is the word I need it for university and my job, however I can not for the life of me, after a week of trying to get the email app that came on the phone to work it will not work. I took the phone to the IT department if my university after I followed their instructions online for setting the email account up on the phone and every time I got to outgoing server settings the app force closed. Personally, I use K-9 (k9mail - Project Hosting on Google Code). However, I'm wondering if you don't have a more serious hardware issue happening, as the stock email client works fine for IMAP connections as well. Kernel panics (where your phone reboots itself to the G1 screen) are never a good thing. That usually indicates a problem in software or hardware, and I'm assuming that you are running stock software (as in not rooted), so if you are still in your warranty or trial period, it might be worthwhile having it looked at.

Everything else on the phone works and has worked fine since I got the phone and I couldn't tell you if its stock or rooted as I have no idea what they are (I'm sorry I'm a noob >__<) I've only had the phone for like two weeks so would taking it back to a TMobile store and asking be the best thing just to see if it is something more serious?

I'm assuming that the phones have a year warrenty at least, that way the warrenty would cover this because I don't have insurance on it. =\

Everything has to be right for outside email clients to work. Port Settings, Server settings, imap/pop settings, SSL settings, etc. If one of the settings or properties is incorrect, it will not work.

I've managed to get email clients from different companies to work with trying different settings and properties.

Check all of your settings.
