Root [T-Mobile] My phone over hear a lot?

When I play a FPS game or 3-D game for 30 min, my phone over heats. When I face time for 30 min, my phone over heat really badly.
I wonder if I lower my Mhz using the set CPU app, will it prevent from over heating?
