T-mobile prepaid numbber port and activation?

Ok guys, I've just bought the galaxy s2 on ebay. I've also ordered a prepaid activation kit from t-mobile. I'm currently with Verizon and I want to port my number over to t-mobile prepaid.

Do I activate the phone with the activation kit online first? Can I start the port process online, or do I call CS?

Thank you

Activate the kit first which will give you a phone number. Then call T-Mobile and tell them you would like to port your number from Verizon. Make sure you have the account number and any password on the account. They will ask for the phone number from the activation kit and the vzw replacing it. They will begin the port process which can take up to 24 hours. Soon as the number is ported, it will cancel the VZW contract.

=] i work at T-Mobile, I do this all the time. Good luck!

Just one more question. Does it matter how long I wait to port the number, or should I do it right after activating with t-mobile.

Thanks

How long does it take to get activated? Its been 21 hours and it's still not activated. Would it take longer if I had the number ported?

It should activate pretty quickly, in a matter of minutes. If you still aren't activated, then you need to call. When you call, assuming you are wanting the $30 plan, make sure they know that you want the $30 "Walmart plan", that you tried to activate online and it failed. There are two different $30 prepaid plans and, if you don't specify, they default to putting you on a 1500 minute plan that has no data.

In my case, the total process took half an hour or so. Since the $30 plan is "online only", the tech had to have a supervisor activate that plan for me. So I wouldn't have to wait on the call, she had the supervisor handle the activation and called me back.

After they activate your phone (and they give you a new number) have them transfer you to a representative who can port your number for you. Porting your number may take about a day to complete, your phone will be usable (using the new number) while they are transferring your old number.
