If the problem only started when you installed the ROM, I'd suggest trying a different ROM and seeing whether the problem remains. If not, can you revert to the earlier software? If you took a backup from recovery before updating you could try restoring that.
If the problem remains, just to be sure you could try the SIM in a different handset. Would be a heck of a coincidence if it broke when you updated, but occasionally coincidences happen so it's best to eliminate the possibility. Otherwise the best might be to register and post the question in the main forum - that way we'll be able to follow up in more detail and work back and forth to find a solution.
