T-mobile UK have now got rid of 12 month contracts!

No more 12 month contracts on T-mobile UK. They have gone the same way as O2 UK went a couple of years ago.

As far as I can tell, only Orange now do 12 month deals. Anyone correct me on this?

Annoying really as I hate being locked into 18month contracts+ because I run my phones into the ground due to heavy use.

I agree, I think when my current contract is up I am going to to go with a SIM-Only no contract plan and stump up the cash for a SIM free phone

Might just go for Orange myself, if they still exist in 9 months time, as you might or might not be aware, T-mobile + Orange UK are now/becoming one company.

Heard that "3" were thinking of doing 6 month contracts, but obviously you'd pay a lot for a HTC hero on that. !!!

T-Mobile USA has as well. It seems to be co-incident with the Even More [Plus] plans, as I was told (on Sunday, 1/31) anyone who had a contract and phone upgrade before Oct. 29 2009 was again eligible for a phone upgrade and plan change with no penalty. I can even switch to the Even More Plus no-contract plan (although doing so doesn't cut short my existing contract, I just get to pay the reduced rate now without paying a termination fee for having a subsidized phone)!
