T-mobile/Walmart $30 plan. Can you buy extra minutes?

Hey folks. I am trying to be sneaky and get this stupid $100 a month phone bill as low as possible, all while enjoying the new Nexus4.

I ordered a 99c miniSIM card from T-mobile. I ordered the Walmart 100 min/unlimited text/unlimited web card for $30. I am fully committing to my google voice number and not giving out my "real" cell phone number.

I have been experimenting with VOIP Groove IP/talkatone/Simdroid and am not 100% pleased. I think at home I can live with it and frankly I will just use my computer to make any longer calls, but I do travel some and want to make sure I have at least one reliable way to get my calls out.

On my current plan, I use around 150 min/month. Is there a way I can just "pay as a I go" for the extra minutes using the T-mobile pre-paid card. If I have an extra balance on my account or something? How do I set this up if it is possible? Anyone doing anything similar?

No, unfortunately, you cannot add minutes to the $30 plan. However, you can go on the Pay as You Go plan and add as needed. They are 2 separate plans so you will have to be in one or the other but not both.

I use GrooveIP (Paid version) and it works fine because I have good Tmo coverage. YMMV.

Isn't it 10 cents a minute after 100 minutes? So you'd just have to have additional funds on the account to continue using talk time.

You are correct.

Sorry, my bad, I use GrooveIP/Google Voice and don't go over at all. :D

jusy keep a couple extra bucks in your account in case you do go over, but this is what i do as well with groove ip and voice its basically everything unlomited hahahahahahahhahah:smokingsomb:
