Tab 10.1 or Transformer?

They are both really good but you have to make a decision which fits your needs better. If you want something skinny and lightweight get the tab 10.1, but if you want the ports then get the transformer. I am getting the tab 10.1 because I think it looks sexy and it fits my needs!

I did A LOT of research before chosing the SGT 10.1 and, utlimately, it came down to the Tab, the Transformer, Acer Iconia and the ASUS EEE Pad. I went with the Tab 10.1 for several reasons: lighter, sexier, better screen resolution, HC 3.1 and - what I think is the main reason - it wasn't trying to be a laptop. With the other tabs, I kept feeling like I was getting a laptop, granted, I can see how some people will be turned off by the SGT not having any dedicated ports but, at the end that's what sold me. I'm I planning on running HD video out of my tab to monitor? No, my phone can do that and so can my camera. I'm I planning on dl'ing tons of music to my tab? No, my phone (and mp3 player) can do that. Do I need to acces the internet for business & pleasure? Yes, and this Tab facilitates that.

Quite honestly if I needed an HDMI out connection, I have at least 3 devices that can already do that; I just wanted a tablet that didn't want to be a pseudo-laptop and, I personally felt that the Transformer - with it's additional keyboard dock, which is pretty cool BTW - was trying to hard to give the user the impression that it was somewhat of a laptop. Just my $0.02.

There is no question. Get the tab 10.

Except for a sd card slot the tab 10 has ALL the same ports as the transformer you just need an adapter. Either way you need an adapter or new cable to use the ports on the transformer anyway.

i had a budget tablet (viewsonic g tab) before and returned it cuz it wasnt what i thought it would be. very very impressed with the 10.1

I agree. I was looking for ultra portability not a laptop/pc replacement. I use the cloud for all of my storage so there was no need for additional ports on my Tab. I had the Xoom for 2 weeks but when the GT10 came out I returned the Xoom because it was to bulky and the screen wasn't as crisp as the Tab's.

I agree as well. The whole reason for a tablet is portability. If you have to have a keyboard, get a laptop. In my humble opinion, tablet is replacing laptop when you are on-the-go, just like laptop replacing desktop many years ago.

Rumor says that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 3g version will support SD card out of the box. And that is more than enough for me. If not, it is still no big deal as 32GB internal storage is more than enough. You are not going to store the whole Library of Congress contents in that tablet, are you?

And I don't need connectivity to TV. As other posters have said, there are many many other devices for that purpose. The tablet is for me to use OUTSIDE the house or the office.

Anyway, different people have different taste. That's why different people are driving different cars on the road. Some people like sports cars for style and elegance, and some people like pickup trucks for utility purpose.

To me, style and elegance is far more important on a mobile device. That's why I prefer the Galaxy Tab 10.1 over any other tablets on the market.

I chose the SGT 10.1 over the ipad 2 and I'm glad I did. I just got my tab today and have been messing with it all day. You have so much more customization, it just makes it more enjoyable. To me, IOS is just boring. Sorry I know this is a transformer vs Tab discussion.

I have had my tab for about a week now. I just can't not begin to discribe how much I love my Droid X / SGT 10.1 combination.

I think it is the best, most functional phone/tab combo that money can currently buy.

If I could migrate to a 4G phone that allows bluetooth connection to the tab that would be the only improvement. But I won't do it if I have to give up my 29 dollar a month unlimited data plan.

The sleekness, the camera and just general awesomeness of the SGT 10.1 makes it a winner for me. Just a wonderful example technology!

My wife picked the SGT last night over the Transformer and Xoom. The screen, size, weight, and speakers are why she went with it. The BB salesman tried hard to get her to pick one of the others just because of the ports. She does not do much with our pics or music, so she went with the 16GB model.

Women usually have good taste :)

Hawk, FWIW, if you haven't decided yet, you may be able to pick up the Galaxy (16 GB) for same $$ as the TF if you live near a Staples store. The Gtab 10.1 is listed in their store ad ($499.). They are currently running a $100. off coupon and Gtab is NOT excluded. You can check store availability online--just go through the ad to locate not through the regular internet listing. Both ad and coupon expire 7/30. Visit Slatedroid if you need the coupon.
