Help Tablet won't play HD videos

I just got the Samsung Galaxy S tab 8.4

I specifically got this for the amazing screen resolution!! I was dissapointed when I witnessed the worst quality I've ever seen on Netflix! I tried youtube, vimeo, and dish anywhere. All bad quality. The only videos that play in full HD are saved to the tablet.

It's not my WiFi because my tiny little iPhone 5 plays in full quality with said apps.

I'm a first time android user not sure if I'M the problem lol.

Are you sure you're viewing the videos on HD or does the videos in question have HD variation? If you can play HD with the videos on your device then there is no problem with your tablet.

Well, first thing to consider is did you set it to play on HD? On YouTube, when watching a video, try tapping the gear icon and look at the resolution.

Not sure how it works on iPhones, but if an Android device thinks the WiFi speeds aren't adequate for optimal viewing (meaning you'll see loading times), it automatically downgrades the resolution. IIRC there's a setting in the app that says 'always play HD'.
