Tablet won't read files on ext sd

I have an android Freescale A8 2.2. Put some files on a new 16gb sdcard and the tablet says the folder is empty?? Any ideas - it's driving me mad with all this little quirks - not finding it very user friendly

how did you put the files on the card? What kind of files? Have you formatted the card? Does the card work in a pc?

Hi,

Card was formatted, put a divx and a doc file on there. Works fine in pc.

also can't get it to connect to my pc via usb :S
