Yay, I finally got a carpet shampooer. The only thing is why not much earlier. The difference is almost literally night and day. The sample bottle included is only 12 oz. and it's just about done. I have a much bigger bottle of Zep, but the instructions say to use Hoover solution only. Of course they're going to say that. What I want to know is if it's true.

My wife has used various carpet shampooers for many years and has never had any sort of issue using her own brand of shampoo for carpet.

I rented an upholstery cleaner that could do small carpets. Didn't work.

Yeah, it works pretty well. The only thing is how small the clean water tank is. I have to keep reloading that many times before I empty the dirty one. Is there a way to modify that? I don't care about any warranty.

Are the tanks the same size? If so, you're leaving a lot of liquid in the carpet/padding. Try using a little more elbow grease to get it out of there!

No, the dirty one is considerably bigger. However, I have gone over it extra to try to remove residue from the solution. Then I just have to let it dry, I guess
