task killer?

they all screw up the performance of your phone...don't install any and especially don't waste your money on any of them. Home ++ has a task manager shortcut on the homescreen that I love that you can use to kill ill behaved apps....but kill all only seems to cause problems and lag.

Advanced Task Killer Free. Far and away the best one I've used, simple interface, remembers all your selections, all I have to do is open the app, hit the button, and it closes all the apps I don't want running. No need to set up an ignore list or anything, just untick anything you don't want to kill and it will remember it and leave it unticked

Try Advanced Task Manager.

Completely untrue.

Wow, once again you are SO SMART!

Again, scientific method came into play.

While Task Killer was actively used my droid ran sluggish and crashed a lot.

After uninstalling it it runs smooth and don't experience home screen crashing anymore.

Conclusion:

Task Killing = Less Stability of OS.

I'm so glad we can have these discussions where you are correct without actually researching anything and everyone else is just saying not to use task killers because it's the "cool" thing to say.

I wasted my $.99 on task killer pro, and promptly uninstalled it after more testing and conclusive results.

First off, correlation does not imply causation. Don't use terms like 'conclusive results' unless you're going to provide those results. And you provided no more evidence to support your viewpoint than hrbib21 did to support his, so I'm not sure why you think your argument is any better.

Secondly, did your task killer by any chance display a widget that kept track of running processes? If so, it's obviously going to take resources to constantly run that. My task killer can't contribute to sluggish behaviour, since it's not running unless I specifically start it. And then I use it to kill itself along with the other unnecessary apps so it's not running anymore

Personally, my Droid is running better without the use of a task killer. But like everything else posted here, YMMV. Lets agree to disagree, and base your decisions on your own results. Software installs and uninstalls quite easily in the Android world so no real harm done. I too have invested an occasional $0.99 on software I would up deleting and despite these tough economic times, lived to see another day. If what doesn't work for me works for you, more power to ya.
