Tasker doesn't detect apps being launched

I created a lock that should be triggered when I launch certain apps but that just doesn't happen. I have a Lenovo 2010 tasker paid version 4.3u4. My Google search results say that this problem is common in android 5.0+ mine is 5.1; is there any way around this problem?

I created a simple test that works ...

Profile: Test (533)
Application: chompSMS
Enter: Anon (534)
A1: Flash [ Text:TEST Long:Off ]
A2: Beep [ Frequency:8000 Duration:1000 Amplitude:50 Stream:3 ]

The documentation says ...
Important: in Android versions after (and including) L, app detection is much less accurate. For some apps it may not work at all, for others it may activate and never deactivate.

(I was using Tasker 5 under Android 7.0.)
