Tasker to operate an app

I'm an oldschool newbie to smartphones. Because of physical limitations (not whining about it), I'd like to be able to run the Insteon app on my Moto X by voice. Found out how to create AutoVoice profiles to run Tasker, but can't figure out how to push or click certain things within Tasker. Is there a macro creator in Tasker or some other app that lets me do specific things in the Insteon app?

If the app has a plugin for tasker, the plugin let's you access some features of the app.

If you have root, you can emulate key presses.

If neither one, I'm afraid you're our of luck. You can launch an app but can't do anything else with the app.

Thank you very much for your reply. What is root? A key press macro sounds like the solution.

you can run the command "input tap X Y" to simulate a tap.
