Do I need to be rooted to use tasker?

I only ask, as I want to create my own toggles using zooper and tasker.

no, you don't need to be rooted to use tasker and the vast majority of its capabilities. But there are a few actions available on tasker that require root (ex-reboot the phone). This is a restriction of android...apps are not supposed to be able to do things like reboot the phone.

While most of my Android phones are rooted, those I buy for family members are not. I install Tasker on every one because it's so useful.

I encourage you to use it. Over time you'll get better and better at identifying all it can do for you. It's essential for all that I do.
