Tasker's GPS Killing Battery

When I use Tasker, I have the GPS set to check my location every 5 minutes when the screen is on or off, but this kills my battery like no other.

I'd prefer to be able to have it check my location with the tower triangulation (cell phone locations) every 3 minutes, and move the GPS check time to every 30-60 minutes.

Anyone know of any way to do this? I haven't been able to figure it out yet.

While the display is off, all such checks are performed at the same interval, so there's no way to specify different settings for GPS and network when the display is off.
