Does anybody know if the default "Gmail" app that comes preloaded in the G1 uses imap or pop to connect to gmail, or does it use some other (e.g. http based) protocol?
The reason I'm asking is because my current carrier (in France) has a data plan that block imap and pop emailing (they actually have another option that unlocks this 'feature' for an additional cost).
Just to be precise, I'm not talking about the "Email" app (that has to use imap/pop) but the "Gmail" one.
