Interesting. AndroidGuys also said it will have a $100 1-year subscription and $250 4-year.

I wonder if that subscription is tied to a phone or an account. For example, if I get a 4-year subscription, can get a new phone/device an still use it on the new device?

For that matter, can I use it on multiple devices?
 
TeleNav is ridiculous. Directions from the Maps program work just fine. And I don't need someone yelling directions at me.
 
Well all I can say is Telenav saved my a$$ 100 times when I moved to San Diego 2 yrs ago. I am going to bite.

Telenav is ties to the individual phone number. When accessing the website to update address manually (which comes in handy when planning a trip or multiple entries at one time) you are prompted to enter your phone number and a 4 digit PIN for user authorization. The same is true during using Telenav for the first time on a mobile device. So Unless you got cloned SIM cards in two phones you cannot use it on more than 1 mobile device.
 
Yea I will bite. At least untill Garmin comes out with theirs. I want something that I can download on the card so you can use it without internet connections (ie offroading or dead areas) I used to use Tomtom on my Treo and what a life saver. Living in the greater Los Angeles it is such a gas and time saver. As for the guy that says google maps is good enough, wait till you miss a turn or a street is closed or has mad traffic. Navigation will reroute without having to pull to the side of the road and fiddle with it. It just does it and you keep driving. I don't know if telenav has the feature but Tomtom will tell you about gas stations, resturants, senic places, ect if you set it too. Really nice on a road trip. You can know if there is a gas station on this exit before you take it and get lost.
I used it to go to the US Moto GP in Salinas a few years back. Several friends and I rented a van packed it up and left. I took some pokes and jabs about what was that thing on the dash and how hard could it be we just go up the 5 freeway. Well once we got off the 5 I don't think we went anywhere without it. It got us to the hotel 50 miles outside of Salinas (Cause everything in a 100 mi radius was sold out). Into Salinas to will call the tickets, to the track and back, into Monterey for the after party and to several resturants along the way. And we never got lost. I got many praises about my Tomtom when we got back to the Burbank area and as everyone was sleeping when we arrived it got the driver on to the next persons house to drop them off without waking everyone up to ask directions.
 
$120.00 for one year is a ripoff. you can buy a garmin gps unit for $100.00 at home depot. Tiger direct has a refurbished one for $69.00.
 
There are benefits to both models.

With the monthly sub you get constantly updated maps, traffic, construction, etc. When buying the one time units you generally (not always) have to pay for updated maps and POI and it can cost anywhere from $10 to $50 depending. If you want traffic and construction updates you generally have to pay a subscription fee of around $4-$7 as well.

So to get everything you get with this, you are not saving all that much money. the downside is it is a fairly small GPS screen and who knows how good the performance is going to be.

Personally I think $10 a month is too high, but not nearly as bad as people think when you add it all up. Around $5-$7 a month would be more feasible.
