Help Tethering issue. Net access intermittent loss

Hi Folks. Just got my S3 and found that when tethering with Wifi hotspot, the phone constantly drops the connection and windows 7 comes up saying there is a DNS issue. Same with all browsers and although connected to the phone, windows says there is no internet access. A few minutes later it just resolves itself. No such isues with the exact same network and laptop with my galaxy S.

Any ideas as to what it is and how to solve this please?

Thanks

Hummm, very important issue to me on my upcoming phone purchase. I'm watching this thread.

spoke to Samsung who's service was very good, and told that should three not sort a new handset, they would. after trying all sorts of fixes, three replaced the handset. seems better but still had the same issue a couple of times. will let you know more as I use it.

well, new handset, same issue. the tethering is a joke. Really not impressed at all. will be back on the blower to three and samsung tomorrow.

I'm afraid that for those who are 'keeping an eye' on this thread I have some bad news. I am experiencing the exact same issue with my new S3 on Three UK. I tried the sim card in an iPhone 4S and the experience was absolutely flawless. Bummer for me because one of the big draws to this particular contract for me was.....tethering:mad:

Not that you should have to, and but try rooting and an alternative tether program. The only there are a couple good ones out there better than the factory one.

The new update is supposed to make the radios better. Wonder if the update will assist tethering?

neither Samsung nor three could sort it after two handsets and constant calls to try to address the issue so contract cancelled and handset returned. shame as its a nice piece of kit.

i hav e been fighting this for a few days now. i have mobile hotspot on my account with verizon. but the s3 will not stay connected. the mac never looses the wifi signal, but i cannot get the pages to load. frustrating. never did this with my bionic.

Hi everyone, first-time poster. I came across this thread after searching for issues regarding tethering on the GS3. Yep, I have the same problem.

I bought an unlocked international handset from Amazon UK and have been using it with a three UK PAYG SIM. This SIM and account worked great on my older GS1 and I never experienced any tethering issues, managing to support a laptop and two iPads at once.

But now on the GS3 the internet access is intermittent when tethering over Wifi. Sometimes it works fine for hours, but at other times it goes on and off every few minutes. Like others here the Wifi connection between the handset and device remains active - it's the actual internet packets which just stop being passed through.

I'm using WPA2 security. Sometimes switching wifi off on the laptop and back on again seems to start the connection again, but it may not last long.

So I don't have any decent solutions, but I wanted to let you know there's another person here experiencing the same issues, so any suggestions are very gratefully received!

Shame as I love everything else about the handset...

i know this thread is a couple months old, but i was just searching around for help, as I'm having the exact same problem with my S3 (on T-Mobile). Anybody know if Samsung is acknolwedging a problem and/or offering a repair? Thanks

I have the same issue. I am using a Bush Spira B3 on Three. Mainly use it for tethering to my PS4 for updates and stuff and for this it works fine. When it comes to playing online though, say Call Of Duty it keeps kicking me out randomly due to "Connection Failure". Frustrating as hell! I'm assuming it's actually an issue with the phone as this never happened with my Bush Spira B1 or my Microsoft Lumia 640 (Yes yes, I know that one's not android) and those two worked flawlessly. I have tried multiple apps and it still happens. The same for my friend as well who has the exact same phone as me. The same thing happened with another Bush phone my mate had. Any suggestions? Because as of so far my advice would be to steer clear of the Bush Spira phones. This is not good!
