Tethering/wifi hotpsot

If I am allowed to tether/use my mobile as a wifi hotspot with my network
will I be able to do so when using Android JellyBean 4.3 and KitKat 4.4?

Hi adamchrissy, and welcome to Android Forums :)

In general, as long as the carrier permits you to tether, your device *should* allow you to. That's not always the case, though...

What carrier and device(s) do you use? That will help us be able to tell you for sure.

Hi
Thanks for the reply
I am with three (UK) and the contract includes unlimited data and the ability to tether. The phone I am thinking of buying is a Asus Zenfone 5 A501CG that comes with Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) but can be updated to Android 4.4.2 Kitkat.

This question is well timed!

I'm also on 3 and my BT broadband disconnected today - a day early - as part of my change of provider. No broadband? No problem. I tethered to my Nexus 4 (KitKat 4.4.4) using its built-in tethering facility to do my ritual morning scan of the forums and it all works fine as you can see :-)
